Padma Lakshmi an Indian American is ranked #66 in AskMen Magazine's "Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2008" List. Why Padma Laxmi is ranked #66?
Padma Lakshmi sure knows how to turn the heat up in the kitchen. This Indian-American beauty is best known for her hosting gig on Top Chef, making men throughout the country take an interest in the culinary arts for one hour every week. And while our No. 66 Most Desirable Woman spent 2007 with a starring role in most of your fantasies, she also appeared on the cover of Industry magazine and released her second cookbook, Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet. Upon hearing of her place on this list, Padma said, "Thanks to all those who voted for me!"

Miss Teen USA 2008 could be an Indian-American

Miss Teen USA for 2008 could be an Indian.

Sana Adnani, 17 who is "Miss Teen New York 2008" could make history in 2008 as for the first time in the history of "Miss Teen USA" pageant, after it was started in 1983, an Indian-American has managed to reach the finals of Miss Teen USA 2008.
"This (Miss Teen New York 2008) is a great accomplishment. I am really proud that I am the first Indian American to reach the finals. I would like to take it a step further by winning the title," said Sana, who as a hobby spends time with senior citizens of the area. "I love spending time with them. You learn a lot,"

Richa Gangopadhyay - Miss India USA 2007

Richa Gangopadhyay has been crowned Miss India USA 2007 in a beauty pageant held at Royal Albert's Palace, Fords in New Jersey, USA.

Rediff.com reports
Richa, 21, is in her final year at the Michigan State University majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition and enjoys dance, music and movies.

She also bagged the title of Miss Photogenic, and was crowned by the outgoing queen, Ayushka Singh.

Richa will represent USA in the 17th Annual Miss India Worldwide Pageant, also organised by IFC, to be held on February 23, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Neha Multani, 22, of New York and Nisha Palvia, 18, of Georgia were respectively declared first and second runner up among 24 contestants from various parts of the country, in the gala event attended by over 600 people.

The panel of judges included Dr Hemant Patel -- President of AAPI, Tariq Khan -- Vice President of Marketing and Diversity at Nationwide, Praveen Kumar -- Counsel Political and Community Affairs at the Indian Consulate, Sudha Shekhar -- choreographer and classical dance exponent, Dr Lorenzo Ottaviano -- patron of Indian performing arts and Janice Miller -- internationally acclaimed singer.
